EncFSMP news
Version 0.99.1, 21.12.2018:
- Fixed two regressions: External encfs config files, files with size > 2GB
- Update of PFM to 1.0.0.192
Version 0.99.0, 27.10.2018:
After a very long time I finally was able to update EncFSMP to the newest tools and libraries. All these changes are not visible to the user, but under the hood many things have changed. The biggest change was the inclusion of the newest release of encfs, 1.9.5. Also the other libraries (wxWidgets, boost, OpenSSL and PFM) have been updated. I didn't have much time to test, so please use this release with care. I label it as "beta", meaning please try it out on less important data first. If after some time no errors are reported, I will make a 1.0 release out of this.
There is one small change in the GUI: When creating a new EncFS mount, there is a new option called "Cloud-safe paranoia". It is exactly like the paranoia mode, except the External IV is disabled which proved incompatible with Cloud-services like Dropbox.
Please note that 0.99.0 does not support Windows XP anymore, and requires at least MacOS 10.7 (64-bit only).
- Beta version of 1.0, use with caution!
- Upgrade of encfs to 1.9.5
- Update of PFM to 1.0.0.191, boost to 1.68.0, wxWidgets to 3.1.1 and OpenSSL to 1.1.0i on Windows and 1.0.2p on MacOS
- Compiling with newest compilers (MinGW GCC 8.1.0 on Windows, Apple-Clang 10.0.0 on MacOS)
Version 0.11.1-b, 26.11.2017:
This is a MacOS-only hotfix for 0.11.1. In fact, it only changes the PFM component, the rest remains exactly the same. PismoTech has fixed a bug which is occurs only on MacOS 10.13 High Sierra (ticket #81).Since PismoTech did not increase the build number, users need to reboot their computer after installing the PFM component.
Version 0.11.1, 16.11.2017:
- Update PFM to 1.0.0.190, fixing issues with MacOS 10.13 and Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (tickets #81 and #83).
Unfortunately I am not able to test these issues myself. I received
positive feedback from users with Windows 10 Fall Creators Update,
but negative feedback from a user with MacOS 10.13 High Sierra.
Please submit your feedback to the tickets #81 and #83!
To update PFM under MacOS 10.13 High Sierra, please see the entry in
the FAQ.
Version 0.11.0, 30.09.2017:
- Update PFM to 1.0.0.189, fixing several problems (tickets #78 and #69)
- Added new command line commnds: quit and minimize
- Added possibility to send password via pipe (-p -)
- Check in create encfs that mount name is not empty
This release fixes some problems related to secure boot on Windows,
and it adds some new functionality with command line arguments.
Sorry for the long delay, but the recent PFM versions had issues
when being used with EncFSMP.
I have received feedback from a user on MacOS 10.13 High Sierra
which observed strange behaviour in the Finder (not in the
Terminal). Please send me reports of EncFSMP with this operating
system if you observe similar behaviour (via Tickets or EMail).
Version 0.10.8, 08.06.2017:
- Update OpenSSL to 1.0.2l, PFM to 1.0.0.184
Version 0.10.7, 02.01.2017:
- Unmount in case of Windows shutdown (bug #56)
- Update OpenSSL to 1.0.2j, boost to 1.62.0
Developers wanted! Due to my lack of time for this project, I am asking interested developers to contribute to this project. For this reason, I moved the source code to github (see here: https://github.com/rhiestan/EncFSMP). I also included a short howto to compile EncFSMP with Visual Studio 2015.
Version 0.10.6, 01.08.2016:
- Bug fix (Windows only): Mounts without drive letter are now mounted again unter C:\Volumes
- Fixed bug #66: For directories with more than ~1050 files, not all files were displayed
- The password dialog now also shows the mount name
Version 0.10.5, 08.07.2016:
- Implemented pattern to upgrade from opening a file read-only to read-and-write (should fix bugs with seemingly read-only files)
- Updated OpenSSL to 1.0.2h, boost to 1.61.0. OpenSSL is now compiled to use assembly language and AES instructions, if present
- Updated PFM to 1.0.0.183, using new API
In order to upgrade from an older version of EncFSMP, please make sure you also upgrade PFM by double-clicking on the "Install PFM" icon. Otherwise you will not be able to mount encfs volumes anymore.
Version 0.10.4, 17.04.2016:
- Fixed another bug with read-only files, fixes error reports like "...RawFileIO.cpp:257 -- true == canWrite"
- Properly implemented Access method, should fix ticket #55 (and maybe other problems on OS X)
- Updated OpenSSL to 1.0.2g
- Updated PFM to 1.0.0.181 (should fix ticket #50 and #53)
Version 0.10.3, 22.02.2016:
- Fixed bug with opening files as read-only
- Updated OpenSSL to 1.0.2f, boost to 1.60.0
Version 0.10.2, 07.01.2016:
-
Fixed directory listing of directories with more than 1100 entries (ticket #43)
Version 0.10.1, 27.12.2015:
- Date bug fixed in 32 bit version (ticket #40)
- Updated PFM to 1.0.0.180
- Updated OpenSSL to 1.0.2e
With the newest version of PFM 1.0.180, PismoTech has used an
Apple Developer ID to sign the kernel extension. Therefore, the
workarounds on Mac OS X 10.10 and 10.11 as listed in the FAQ are not
necessary anymore.
Also, the ticket #34 can be closed now due to the bug fixed in PFM.
Mounts created with one user on Windows are only visible to the same
user or by the Administrator.
Version 0.10.0, 01.11.2015:
- Added support for external encfs-configs
- Improved speed with optional cache and better data structures
The caching is currently marked "experimental", please make sure
you only switch it on while working on unimportant data. It may help
a lot especially with network mounted folders. The speed on local
folders is not improved much, if at all.
Very important: Only switch on caching on a shared folder if you are
certain nobody else is changing the directory at the same time.
Otherwise, data loss may occur!
Version 0.9.9, 02.08.2015:
- Updated OpenSSL to 1.0.2d
- Updated Pismo File Mount to 1.0.0.178
Version 0.9.8, 15.06.2015:
- Updated OpenSSL to 1.0.2c
- Fixed bug with handling last write time, fixes ticket #25
- Improved speed while reading directories on Windows
- Windows: Added option to mount drives as Local or Network drives
- Windows: Added option not to mount a new volume using a drive letter (only under C:\Volumes)
On Windows, the Edit/Create new EncFS/Open existing EncFS dialog now has the additional option to mount the EncFS folder as a local drive or as a network drive. It will show up in the respective category in Windows Explorer.
Also on Windows, it is now possible to mount a folder to C:\Volumes only, without assigning a drive letter. To do so, select "None" in the drive letter combobox.
Version 0.9.7, 08.05.2015
- Updated Pismo File Mount to 1.0.0.177
- Windows: Removed "System visible" flag for mounts and "Restart as Admin" menu
- Fixed ticket #13 and #16: Mounted Volumes are now local under Windows
- Fixed ticket #14: Improved handling of read-only files
- Fixed ticket #15: Dialogs now also work on high-DPI devices
The new version of Pismo File Mount is a big step forward. On Windows, mounted volumes are now always system-visible, this means that EncFSMP does not need to be run as Admin anymore. Also, Volumes now appear as local. That means that the search facility of Windows Explorer is working, and that you can start programs from a mounted volume without additional warning dialog. On Windows, mounts are also visible under C:\Volumes.
Important notice for OS X users:
In order to upgrade from an older version of EncFSMP, please
uninstall PFM first, then install it again using the icons in the
EncFSMP disk image. Otherwise you will not be able to mount encfs
volumes anymore.
